If
you are familiar with the computer games "Quake III
Arena", "The 7th Guest", or "The 11th
Hour" then you are familiar with Graeme Devine's
work. He is one of the head programmers for Id Software.
During my freshmen year in high school (1996) I decided
that I no longer wanted to call myself "NT
Audio" because I was also doing lighting. At the time
I was totally fascinated with the computer game "The
11th Hour". I was never a big computer gamer, but the
technology in this game was truly amazing. It far
surpassed anything out at the time. It was one of the
first 3D wire-frame games out and also included a proprietary
video compression format that Devine developed. This
format allowed several hours of video to fit on the same CD
with the game itself! Graeme's
company at the time was called "Devine
Creations" which I thought was very clever. When I
was thinking of a name for my company, this came to mind.
At the time, I thought that the amount of work that went
into that game was amazing and very inspiring. Devine
is only a name. I did not choose it to mean that my
company had anything to do with church, god,
or anything god-like. But on the same note, I do
believe that hard work and striving for excellence is the best way
to worship god. So if the name has anything to do with
god, it is only that I personally put my best effort into
what I do to show praise to what truly is divine. Nason
